Thayer Corp Supports Comprehensive Climate Change Bill

May 4, 2010

At the end of March, Heather Blease, Thayer Corp. Director of Sales and Marketing, joined several other prominent Maine business people at a press conference to publicize support for a letter written to U.S. Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins to support passage of a comprehensive climate change bill in Congress. The letter is signed by 500 Maine businesses including Dan Thayer, president of Thayer Corporation, and Heather Blease, CEO of Savi Systems.

Part of the letter reads:

Global warming could pose a very serious threat to Maine’s economy, environment, and quality of life. The best scientific data suggest that global warming could cause significant sea-level rise along Maine’s lengthy coastline, jeopardizing property, wildlife habitat, and infrastructure. Global warming also could result in more severe weather, increased smog and asthma, and significant harm to our natural resource-based economy.

The letter asks Maine’s two senators to “do all you can to ensure that the United States acts swiftly and effectively in 2010 to address the threat of global warming.”

Heather also made a guest appearance on State of the State, a cable news show broadcast from Augusta.
